International Cardistry Association

About

To advance cardistry as a global art form through education, community, and cultural preservation.

The Art

Cardistry is the performance art of card flourishing: the manipulation of a deck of playing cards for beauty rather than for tricks. It is built from cuts, fans, spins, and displays performed for their own sake, a discipline that is equal parts athletics, design, and showmanship.

Over the past two decades it has grown from a small online community into a global art form practiced by thousands of people across dozens of countries, with its own conventions, regional styles, and a history worth preserving.

The Institution

Cardistry has never had an institutional home: no organization to support the people who teach it, preserve its history, or connect its communities across borders. The International Cardistry Association exists to change that.

A 501(c)(3) nonprofit headquartered in New York City, the ICA is built on three pillars: an education program that trains and pays instructors to teach free public workshops, a global chapter network that gives local communities institutional infrastructure, and cardistry.org, a permanent online platform and archive for the art form.

The Platform

Cardistry.org is the ICA’s platform and archive: a permanent, searchable record of cardistry from 2006 to the present, built to preserve work that would otherwise disappear. Alongside it, a community feed lets artists share and discuss their work, with native translation so practitioners everywhere can take part from day one.

The platform is free and open to all, with no algorithm and no ads. Fellowship is a way to support the ICA’s work, never a requirement for access.
